Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez is preparing to return at the Qatar Grand Prix after missing two race weekends with fractured fingers. His comeback remains subject to his physical condition as he continues an intensive recovery programme.

Raul Fernandez is hoping to return to MotoGP action at the Qatar Grand Prix this weekend after missing the Malaysian round while recovering from fractured fingers.

The Trackhouse rider sustained fractures to two fingers during a Sprint crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix in October. Despite the injury, Fernandez managed to finish second in Sunday's race before withdrawing from the Australian and Malaysian rounds to focus on recovery.

After leaving Sepang, the Spaniard returned to Spain on Friday and underwent an intensive medical and physiotherapy programme in preparation for a possible Qatar comeback.

Fernandez is particularly eager to return at Lusail International Circuit, despite admitting that the venue has not been kind to him in the past.

"I love to race in Qatar. It's a super unique race," Fernandez said.

The Spaniard highlighted the circuit's night-time atmosphere and its layout as reasons for his enthusiasm, particularly the fast corners in the third and fourth sectors, which he believes suit his riding style.

However, Fernandez acknowledged that his record at the venue remains disappointing, admitting he has yet to score a MotoGP point there.

Trackhouse team principal Davide Brivio is also hopeful Fernandez will be fit enough to return, allowing the team to field both riders for the remaining rounds of the season.

The team arrives in Qatar following a strong Malaysian Grand Prix for Ai Ogura, who secured fourth place in both the Sprint and Sunday's race.

Fernandez's potential return comes amid several absences across the MotoGP grid. Yamaha will not participate in the Qatar round due to its company-wide travel policy for the Middle East, while Alex Marquez is recovering from shoulder surgery following Malaysia.

Fermin Aldeguer also remains sidelined with a hand injury sustained in Indonesia, while Joan Mir is uncertain for Qatar after recurring vision problems forced him to retire at Sepang.

Marc Marquez, meanwhile, is expected to compete in Qatar, although the Ducati rider plans to arrive as late as possible.

For Fernandez, the immediate priority is completing his recovery and ensuring he is physically ready to return to competition. His participation will depend on how well he responds to treatment ahead of the weekend.
