Toprak Razgatlioglu continued his MotoGP learning process with encouraging progress during Yamaha’s recent Catalunya test, where the Turkish rider reportedly made a “big step” as he works to adapt to life in the premier class.
The former Superbike world champion has been attracting major attention during his MotoGP appearances, and Yamaha’s latest test outing provided another important opportunity to build experience with the M1 machine.
According to reports from the Catalunya session, Razgatlioglu showed improved confidence and pace while gaining a better understanding of the bike’s characteristics. One of the key areas of focus involved analysing data from fellow Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo, whose riding style and setup information are proving valuable in helping Toprak accelerate his adaptation.

Quartararo remains Yamaha’s benchmark rider in MotoGP, and comparing telemetry with the former world champion has allowed Razgatlioglu to better understand braking points, corner speed, and throttle application on the M1.
The Catalunya test represented another important milestone for both rider and manufacturer. Yamaha continues searching for ways to improve competitiveness against Ducati and other European factories, while also evaluating future rider options and long-term development plans.
Razgatlioglu’s transition from World Superbikes to MotoGP has naturally required adjustments, particularly with tyre behaviour, electronics, and riding techniques unique to the prototype machines. However, Yamaha appears encouraged by the progress made during the latest test.
The Turkish rider’s ability to quickly absorb information and adapt his riding style has been viewed positively within the Yamaha camp, especially considering the limited track time available compared to full-time MotoGP riders.
Although no immediate race plans have been confirmed, the Catalunya outing further strengthened speculation surrounding Razgatlioglu’s potential future in MotoGP.
With Yamaha continuing to gather data and refine its package, the collaboration between Razgatlioglu and Quartararo’s technical feedback could play an important role in the next stage of development for both rider and team.
