Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin has given his season a much-needed lift after bouncing back from a difficult spell following the Thomas Cup to reach the Vietnam Open final.
The Malaysian men’s singles shuttler endured a disappointing outing at the Thomas Cup in April, where he lost his match against England as Malaysia narrowly won their opening tie 3-2.
His struggles continued after the team event, with a series of early exits affecting his confidence and results. However, Aidil has now found his rhythm again in Ho Chi Minh City, putting together a strong run to reach the final.
The turnaround comes at an important stage of his career. Rather than allowing his Thomas Cup disappointment to define his season, the independent shuttler has responded with a series of improved performances and now has a chance to claim a significant title.
