Castrol Honda LCR stand-in rider Cal Crutchlow was encouraged by his progress after finishing 16th in Sunday's MotoGP race at Balaton Park.
Starting from 22nd on the grid, the British veteran made a strong getaway and steadily worked his way through the field on one of the most physically demanding circuits on the calendar.
Crutchlow maintained a consistent pace throughout the race while chasing the group ahead, continuing the improvements he had shown across the weekend as he adapts to life back in MotoGP competition.
"It was probably the most physically demanding race I've ever done," said Crutchlow.
"I'm happy with the result because we understand our current situation, but the lap times show that I'm making progress and getting more comfortable on the bike."
Although he narrowly missed out on the points, crossing the line in 16th place, the result represented another positive step in his return to racing and provided valuable data for the team.
"The racing spirit is still there despite the time I've spent away," he added.
"The important thing is that we're improving, understanding the bike better and better, and taking positive steps forward every time we go out on track."
With improvements made in every session throughout the weekend, Crutchlow leaves Balaton Park encouraged by the progress achieved and optimistic about continuing his development in the races ahead.
