Diogo Moreira remained upbeat after finishing 19th in Friday practice at Le Mans, with the rookie showing promising pace during his first MotoGP outing at the French circuit.

Diogo Moreira may have ended Friday’s practice sessions in 19th place at Le Mans, but the young rider left encouraged by the pace he displayed during his first MotoGP experience at the French circuit.

The Pro Honda LCR rider posted a best lap of 1:30.723 and spent parts of the day fighting inside the top five, underlining the competitiveness of the field and his growing confidence on the bike.

Despite narrowly missing out on a stronger result, Moreira finished just 0.8 seconds behind teammate Johann Zarco, who topped the timesheets on Friday.

“We’ve done a good job today despite the final position,” said Moreira.

The Brazilian focused on adapting to the track and building consistency throughout the sessions. He believes the team is close to putting together a complete performance capable of challenging for a Q2 place.

“We are getting there; it’s just a matter of putting everything together. I like this track and we pushed hard to secure a Q2 spot.”

Moreira added that he felt comfortable on the bike and is confident there is more to come heading into Saturday’s action.

“We’ll try again tomorrow. Overall, I felt good on the bike, so let’s keep working and pushing.”
