Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani have ended a year-long wait for a championship with a commanding victory at the Indonesia Masters. The Malaysian men’s doubles pair defeated Indonesia’s Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin 21-19, 21-13 in the final, showcasing their tactical discipline and reminding fans of their elite quality.
The win marks a major confidence boost for the world No. 9 duo, who had struggled to capture a title over the past 12 months. Their performance reflected the form that once made them one of the most feared pairs on the World Tour.
Despite their success, Sze Fei and Izzuddin praised their opponents, noting the aggressive, risk-taking style of the young Indonesians. “Raymond and Nikolaus are brave on court, willing to play like they have nothing to lose. That is something we can learn from,” Sze Fei said, highlighting their openness to adapt and evolve.
Winning at Jakarta’s iconic Istora Senayan added extra significance. The passionate crowd created a challenging atmosphere, but the Malaysian pair remained composed. “Winning at Istora Senayan in front of Indonesian fans is never easy. Their fans are very, very noisy, so this is a satisfying victory,” Izzuddin said.
Looking ahead, the Indonesia Masters triumph is more than a single title. With the All England Championships approaching in March, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin aim to carry this momentum, sharpen their attacking play, and continue their journey back to the top tier of men’s doubles badminton.
