Honda has begun shaping its MotoGP future by putting key personnel in place ahead of Fabio Quartararo's arrival in 2027, underlining the manufacturer's determination to return to championship contention under the sport's new regulations.
With MotoGP set to introduce 850cc machinery in 2027, Honda is already assembling the technical team that will support Quartararo as the Frenchman leads its next era.
The Japanese manufacturer has appointed experienced engineer Christian Pupulin as Quartararo's crew chief.
Known throughout the MotoGP paddock as "Pipi", Pupulin brings decades of experience, having previously worked with riders including Nicky Hayden, Andrea Dovizioso and Jack Miller during spells at Ducati and KTM. Most recently, he has served as Luca Marini's crew chief at Honda, giving him valuable knowledge of the manufacturer's current MotoGP project.
His appointment is expected to provide continuity within Honda while helping Quartararo adapt quickly to his new surroundings.

Honda has also secured another familiar face for the French rider, with Yamaha tyre specialist Ignacio "Nacho" Madurga set to follow Quartararo to the factory team.
Madurga has worked closely with Quartararo at Yamaha and his arrival is expected to ease the transition by maintaining part of the rider's trusted technical support structure.
Honda's preparations extend beyond its star signing.
Reigning Moto2 world champion Diogo Moreira is expected to receive Andres Madrid as his crew chief after the Spaniard joins from KTM. Moreira is also widely tipped to secure Honda's second factory seat, although the manufacturer has yet to make an official announcement.
Meanwhile, highly rated rookie David Alonso, who is set to enter Honda's MotoGP programme next season, will work with experienced crew chief Santi Hernandez, currently paired with 2020 world champion Joan Mir.
The latest appointments underline Honda's long-term approach as it prepares for one of MotoGP's biggest technical resets.
By combining experienced engineers with proven rider support teams, Honda is aiming to give Quartararo and its next generation of riders the strongest possible foundation when the new era of MotoGP begins in 2027.
