Honda has officially announced the signing of Fabio Quartararo on a two-year contract beginning in 2027, ending months of speculation and securing the 2021 MotoGP world champion as the cornerstone of its future factory project.
The Frenchman will race for the Honda HRC factory team in the 2027 and 2028 seasons as MotoGP enters its new 850cc regulations, bringing an end to his eight-year association with Yamaha.
Honda had reached an agreement with Quartararo earlier this year, but the announcement was delayed until after manufacturers finalised MotoGP's new commercial and sporting framework, known as the Brno Agreement.
Quartararo joins Honda with one of the strongest resumes on the current grid. Since making his MotoGP debut in 2019, he has claimed the 2021 world championship along with 11 Grand Prix victories, 32 podium finishes and 21 pole positions.

The 27-year-old is currently Yamaha's highest-ranked rider in the 2026 championship despite a difficult campaign that has yet to produce a podium finish, highlighting the challenges the Japanese manufacturer has faced in recent seasons.
Honda did not include a statement from Quartararo, who remains under contract with Yamaha until the end of the 2026 season.
Attention will now turn to Honda's rider line-up alongside Quartararo. The manufacturer has already confirmed the signing of Moto2 rider David Alonso for 2027, although it has yet to announce whether the Colombian will race for the factory team or LCR Honda. Reports also state that Alonso and current Moto2 title contender Diogo Moreira remain in contention for the second factory seat, with the unsuccessful rider expected to join LCR Honda.
According to Motorsport.com, Honda has also selected experienced Italian engineer Christian Pupulin to become Quartararo's crew chief in a bid to help the Frenchman adapt quickly to the RC213V when he arrives in 2027.
