Izan Guevara has secured his long-awaited promotion to MotoGP, with Yamaha confirming that the Spaniard will join Prima Pramac Yamaha for the 2027 season.
The 22-year-old will replace Jack Miller and line up alongside Toprak Razgatlioglu, completing Pramac Yamaha's rider line-up for the start of MotoGP's new technical era.
Guevara's promotion represents another important step in Yamaha's development programme. The former Moto3 world champion is currently competing in Moto2 and has emerged as one of the leading riders in the class, sitting second in the championship.
His breakthrough came in 2022 when he won the Moto3 world championship after a dominant campaign. Since moving into Moto2, Guevara has continued to develop and has now earned the opportunity to compete at the highest level of motorcycle racing.
The move also follows a long-term relationship between Guevara and Yamaha. He has been part of the manufacturer's BLU CRU rider development programme, giving Yamaha an opportunity to monitor his progress before promoting him to its MotoGP operation.

For Guevara, the promotion comes at an especially interesting time. MotoGP will introduce a major technical overhaul in 2027, with engine capacity reduced from 1000cc to 850cc alongside other significant regulation changes. The new era could provide an opportunity for riders making the jump from Moto2 to establish themselves on a more level playing field.
Guevara has already experienced Yamaha's MotoGP machinery through testing, giving him some familiarity with the YZR-M1 before his full-time debut next season.
The Spaniard will now have the remainder of his Moto2 campaign to complete before turning his attention to the premier class. His immediate priority will be to finish the season strongly, while preparing for the biggest challenge of his career.
Guevara's arrival also marks the end of Miller's time with Pramac Yamaha. The Australian will leave the team at the conclusion of the 2026 season after Yamaha opted to promote younger talent for its 2027 project.
With Guevara joining Razgatlioglu, Pramac Yamaha will enter the new era with a combination of youth and experience. Razgatlioglu brings multiple World Superbike titles and premier-class ambitions, while Guevara arrives as one of the most promising young riders from the Moto2 ranks.
For Yamaha, the decision represents a clear commitment to developing its next generation of MotoGP talent. For Guevara, it is the opportunity he has been working towards since becoming a world champion in Moto3.
