Jorge Martin has been cleared to participate in the opening practice session at the Qatar Grand Prix as he attempts another comeback from a fractured wrist. The Aprilia rider must undergo a further medical assessment before being allowed to continue for the rest of the weekend.

Jorge Martin has received medical clearance to take part in Free Practice 1 at the Qatar Grand Prix, but the Aprilia rider must undergo another assessment before he can continue racing for the remainder of the weekend.

The Spaniard is attempting to return from a fractured right wrist sustained during the Australian Grand Prix Sprint last month. The injury forced him to miss the main race at Phillip Island and later abandon his comeback attempt at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Martin travelled to Spain following his withdrawal at Sepang to continue his recovery and improve his condition ahead of the Qatar round. Although his wrist remains injured, he is hoping to make a stronger return at Lusail International Circuit.

His clearance allows him to participate in Friday's opening practice session, after which MotoGP medical director Dr Angel Charte will reassess his fitness before deciding whether he can continue through the weekend.

Martin's return is particularly important for his remaining championship ambitions. The reigning world champion currently trails Marc Marquez by 44 points with three rounds remaining, leaving him with limited opportunities to close the gap.

Marquez could secure his eighth MotoGP title in Qatar if he extends his advantage by 30 points over Martin by the end of Sunday's race.

Meanwhile, two other injured riders have received full medical clearance for the Qatar weekend.

Gresini Ducati's Fermin Aldeguer will return after missing the Australian and Malaysian rounds due to a hand fracture sustained in Indonesia. Trackhouse Aprilia's Raul Fernandez has also been cleared to race despite a fractured right index finger that forced him to withdraw from the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Their returns provide some relief to the MotoGP grid, which continues to deal with several injury-related absences as the championship approaches its conclusion.
