Jorge Martin is battling to recover from a fractured right arm following his Australian GP crash, with his fitness for the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang still uncertain.

Jorge Martin faces a race against time to recover from his Australian Grand Prix crash, with the Aprilia rider working to regain fitness ahead of this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.

The Spaniard suffered a fracture to his right arm during the Australian GP sprint, adding another complication to his campaign as he continues to fight for the MotoGP world championship. His participation in Malaysia will depend on how well he responds to treatment, with his condition set to be assessed day by day.

Initial medical examinations revealed an incomplete fracture of the radius in Martin’s right arm, meaning the injury does not currently require immediate surgery. However, an existing fracture to his ulna has also been aggravated, causing post-traumatic inflammation and making his recovery more challenging.

Martin’s physiotherapist, Aitor Tomas, has travelled to Malaysia to oversee his rehabilitation programme. The rider has already begun receiving treatment in Kuala Lumpur in an effort to arrive at Sepang in the best possible condition.

“I am receiving the treatment I need to recover from the injury and arrive at Sepang in the best possible shape,” Martin said.

However, the Aprilia rider admitted that it was too early to determine whether he would be fit to race.

“It is impossible to make predictions. We have to assess the situation day by day,” he added.

The final decision on Martin’s fitness will rest with MotoGP medical director Dr Angel Charte, who will determine whether the Spaniard is medically fit to compete.

Martin’s injury comes at a crucial stage of the championship. Despite losing ground to Marc Marquez during the Australian GP weekend, he conceded only 12 points to his rival. However, he now trails Marquez by 10 points in the overall standings, leaving him with little room for further setbacks.

With four Grands Prix remaining and 148 points still available, the championship battle remains open. Marquez has also returned to competitive form following shoulder surgery in May, strengthening his position as Martin’s main rival in the fight for the title.

For Martin, the immediate priority is recovering sufficiently to compete at Sepang. The Malaysian circuit’s high-speed sections and demanding braking zones will place considerable physical demands on riders, making an injured arm a significant concern.

Whether Martin can take part in the Malaysian GP remains uncertain. His recovery over the coming days will determine whether he can return to the track and keep his championship hopes alive.
