Marc Marquez produced a dramatic comeback to win the Aragon Grand Prix, but one of the race’s biggest talking points was his breathtaking battle with Marco Bezzecchi.
The Ducati rider and Aprilia star went head-to-head on lap six of the 23-lap race, with both pushing their machines to the limit in one of the most intense moments of the weekend.
Marquez made his move on Bezzecchi at Turn 15, diving down the inside after previously making a similar pass on Jorge Martin. Bezzecchi responded with strong drive out of the corner, setting up a spectacular battle down the back straight.
The two riders ran almost side-by-side as they entered the slipstream, with the aerodynamic effect pulling their bikes dangerously close together. Marquez eventually braked later to complete the overtake, but both riders admitted just how tense the moment had been.
“The air was like sucking me and then pushing me away, and the same thing happened three, four times,” Bezzecchi explained.
The Aprilia rider said the battle also affected his approach to the final corner, as being positioned on the left side of the track compromised his usual braking line.
Marquez also described the encounter as both thrilling and frightening.
“It was an incredible moment. A scary moment,” he said.

The six-time MotoGP world champion revealed that the bikes were being pulled towards each other by the slipstream, while the intense aerodynamic forces even caused his Ducati to lift into a small wheelie in sixth gear.
While Marquez and Bezzecchi fought for position, Pedro Acosta was ready to take advantage of the situation.
Seeing both riders move towards the left side of the track, the KTM rider stayed in the slipstream before moving to the right and braking later. The move allowed Acosta to sweep around the outside and take second place.
“They were both on the left and I was just trying. I was a bit in the slipstream and then I just went to the right. I was in the right position,” Acosta said.
The calculated move earned Acosta a podium finish and showed how quickly the balance of a MotoGP race can change when riders become locked in battle.
For Marquez, the victory was particularly significant. After an early issue with his rear ride-height device, he recovered strongly and worked his way through the field before taking control of the race.
The result also moved him up to second in the championship standings, strengthening his title challenge.
However, the Aragon Grand Prix will be remembered for more than the result. The spectacular duel between Marquez and Bezzecchi, followed by Acosta’s opportunistic attack, provided a perfect example of the speed, strategy and razor-thin margins that make MotoGP so unpredictable.
