Marco Bezzecchi is keeping his expectations in check ahead of this weekend's German Grand Prix, with the Aprilia rider revealing he is still battling significant pain following his heavy crash at Assen.

Marco Bezzecchi has tempered expectations ahead of the German Grand Prix, admitting he is still struggling with the physical effects of the heavy crash that cost him the MotoGP championship lead at Assen.

The Aprilia rider arrived at Sachsenring hoping to limit the damage rather than challenge for victory, revealing he continues to experience considerable pain after his high-speed accident in the Netherlands.

"I'm in a lot of pain," Bezzecchi admitted. "I'm not in the best condition physically, so we need to see how the weekend develops."

Despite his discomfort, Bezzecchi has been declared fit to race and plans to take part in the weekend, although he acknowledged that Sachsenring's demanding layout could make life even more difficult. The circuit's fast direction changes and heavy braking zones are expected to put extra strain on his injured body.

Bezzecchi's title challenge also suffered a major setback at Assen. A crash while battling near the front not only ended his race but also allowed teammate Jorge Martin to move ahead in the championship standings, leaving the Italian eager to recover points once he is back to full fitness.

Rather than focusing on the championship battle, the 27-year-old said his priority this weekend is to complete the races, understand his physical limitations and avoid making his injuries worse. He believes a cautious approach will give him the best chance of returning to full strength for the remainder of the season.

Although a podium challenge may be difficult under the circumstances, Bezzecchi remains determined to salvage as many points as possible before the summer break, knowing every finish could prove valuable in what has become an increasingly tight title fight.
