Jorge Martín will drop three places on the Spanish Grand Prix grid after being penalised for impeding another rider during Friday practice at Jerez.

Jorge Martín has been given a three-place grid penalty for the Spanish Grand Prix after being found to have impeded another rider during Friday practice at the Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto.

The incident occurred in the closing stages of practice when Martín was riding slowly on the racing line and disrupted Álex Márquez while approaching a section of the circuit. Race stewards determined that the situation created a potential safety risk and issued the penalty as a result.

According to the ruling, Martín will drop three positions from his qualifying result on the starting grid for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

The decision adds another setback to what has already been a challenging weekend for the Spanish rider, who has also experienced multiple crashes during the Jerez round.

Despite the penalty, Martín remains focused on race day and continues to work with his team to improve performance, with attention now shifting to how far he can recover from a lower starting position in front of his home crowd.
