Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah are focused on regaining their momentum as the women’s doubles competition continues to become more challenging on the international stage.
The Malaysian pair, currently among the world’s top-ranked combinations, are looking to rediscover the consistency that previously made them one of the most feared partnerships in badminton.
After a difficult period affected by injuries and inconsistent performances, Pearly and Thinaah believe they are making steady progress and are determined to rebuild their confidence ahead of the upcoming tournaments.
The duo recently returned to the China Open after advancing past the opening round, where they defeated Japan’s Ririna Hiramoto and Kokona Ishikawa 21-16, 21-12. The win provided a timely boost as they continue their push to return to their best level.
Pearly acknowledged that the women’s doubles category has become increasingly competitive, with several pairs capable of challenging for titles.
"We know the field is getting tougher, and every match is difficult," she said.
The Malaysians also understand that consistency will be key as they aim to compete against the leading pairs from China, Japan and South Korea.
Thinaah added that the pair are continuing to work on improving different aspects of their game, while staying patient with their progress.
Having achieved major milestones in recent years, including becoming the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to win a medal at the Olympics, Pearly and Thinaah remain confident they can return to the top with continued hard work.
With a busy schedule ahead, the duo are focused on taking each tournament step by step and rebuilding the form that previously saw them among the world’s elite.
