Pedro Acosta believes his performances in the first half of the 2026 MotoGP season deserve a solid 7/10, although he admits KTM's technical problems have prevented both him and the team from reaching their full potential.
Heading into the summer break, the Spanish rider reflected on a campaign that has featured flashes of brilliance alongside frustrating setbacks. While satisfied with his own riding, Acosta said the overall season only merits a 4/10 when mechanical failures and other challenges are taken into account.
"If you take a general picture, I would say a four," Acosta said, pointing to reliability issues that forced him to retire from races in Barcelona, Brno and Assen. The lost points, he believes, have had a significant impact on his championship position.

Despite those setbacks, Acosta has emerged as KTM's standout rider this season. The 22 year old has claimed one Sprint victory and three Grand Prix podium finishes across the opening 11 rounds, placing him seventh in the riders' standings.
His performances have also made him KTM's leading points scorer, with a tally that is almost equal to the combined total of teammates Enea Bastianini, Brad Binder and Maverick Viñales. The results further underline Acosta's growing importance to the Austrian manufacturer during a challenging campaign.
Although Acosta remains mathematically in the title fight, sitting 60 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin, he believes solving KTM's reliability concerns is the priority.
"Let's see if during the summer break we can understand why we were having these technical issues," he said.
Acosta is set to leave KTM at the end of the season for Ducati, where he will partner Marc Marquez in 2027. The move is expected to give the highly rated Spaniard a stronger platform to challenge consistently for victories and the MotoGP world championship.
