Yamaha is optimistic that its all-new rider line-up will help usher in a fresh chapter when MotoGP enters a new era in 2027.
Team director Massimo Meregalli believes the arrivals of reigning world champion Jorge Martin and rising Japanese star Ai Ogura will bring renewed motivation and a different perspective to the factory squad as MotoGP introduces sweeping technical regulation changes next season.
Martin and Ogura will replace long-serving riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, marking one of Yamaha's biggest rider overhauls in recent years. The pairing also reflects the manufacturer's ambition to return to the front after several difficult seasons.

Meregalli described the new line-up as a source of "fresh air" for the team, adding that welcoming two new riders creates fresh motivation throughout the organisation. While acknowledging the contributions of Quartararo and Rins, he believes the change comes at the right time as Yamaha prepares for a new generation of MotoGP machinery.
The timing is significant, with MotoGP set to introduce new 850cc engines and revised aerodynamic regulations in 2027. Yamaha sees the regulation reset as an opportunity to close the gap to its rivals and build a competitive package from the ground up.
Martin is expected to arrive as one of the championship's leading riders after enjoying strong success with Aprilia, while Ogura has impressed during his first two seasons in the premier class and is regarded as one of MotoGP's brightest young talents. Their combination of experience and youth is expected to play a key role in Yamaha's long-term rebuilding plans.
Although Yamaha's immediate focus remains on the remainder of the 2026 campaign, preparations for 2027 are already well underway. With a new rider pairing and a fresh technical rulebook on the horizon, the Japanese manufacturer hopes the changes will mark the beginning of a return to championship contention.
