Pedro Acosta is poised to leave KTM and join Ducati’s factory MotoGP team in 2027, where he will ride alongside Marc Marquez. The move would reshape the premier class rider market ahead of major regulation changes.

Pedro Acosta is expected to move from Red Bull KTM to the factory Ducati MotoGP team for the 2027 season, putting him side by side with Marc Marquez. Recent developments in the rider market have made the Spaniard’s switch to Ducati increasingly likely.

With Fabio Quartararo heading to Honda and Jorge Martin moving to Yamaha for 2027, Ducati has remained relatively steady. Marc Marquez has emphasised his intention to stay with the Italian manufacturer, and his contract extension is nearing completion.

Reports indicate that Ducati and Acosta are close to finalising an agreement that would see the 23-year-old race for the Bologna-based team in 2027 and 2028. The move comes as part of Ducati’s strategy to build a long-term lineup, pairing Marquez’s experience with Acosta’s rising talent.

Currently contracted to KTM through the 2026 season, Acosta has been a key figure in the Austrian factory’s MotoGP efforts. However, KTM leadership has acknowledged that it has not yet convinced him to commit beyond 2026 amid strong external interest.

If confirmed, Acosta’s arrival would likely displace Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati’s factory squad. Bagnaia’s future is now being discussed across the paddock, with possible options including a move to another team within the Ducati family or a different manufacturer.

Once both Acosta’s and Marquez’s contracts are formally settled, Ducati is expected to announce the new lineup ahead of the 2026 season opener.
